The Undergraduate Program Coordinator provides academic advising, curriculum support, and program coordination for the Critical Race and Ethnic Studies (CRES) program. This position also provides limited administrative support for the CRES program. The Undergraduate Program Coordinator reports to the CRES Faculty Program Director. This position also works closely with the CRES Faculty Undergraduate Director.
The CRES major is designed to help students develop a deep understanding of how race and other modalities of power have structured human life, both in the past and the present. Administered by the Humanities Division, the curriculum for the major draws from courses specific to the CRES program in addition to courses offered by the campus's Anthropology, Education, Feminist Studies, History, Film and Digital Media, Literature, History of Art and Visual Culture, Latin American and Latino Studies, Psychology, and Sociology Departments.
Applies professional concepts to independently provide prescriptive advice on academic policies and procedures for the Critical Race and Ethnic Studies program, including major and minor requirements, and all aspects of course requirements for degree or program completion. Receives assistance on more complex issues.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Significant experience in and knowledge of advising and counseling techniques in an academic setting.
Knowledge of program courses and majors.
Knowledge of program policies, procedures, and requirements.
Strong skills in judgment, decision-making, and problem solving. Demonstrated ability to research, interpret, and apply complex policies, procedures and information and to recommend or implement solution on own initiative and authority.
Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
