The Donald & Terry Smith Center for International Sustainable Agriculture (Smith International Center) at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) is seeking a full-time Program Administrator as part of the Center's core team to expand UTIA's global portfolio. The position will focus primarily on the region of Latin America and the Caribbean.
UTIA has an extended history of international engagement across the globe and is committed to realize the value of international engagement for a better Tennessee. UTIA's international vision includes both generating globally-oriented graduates and developing collaborative research and extension opportunities for its faculty and staff. The successful candidate will be a key player contributing to the growth of international engagement across the institute, working closely with the UTIA Smith International Center team, as well as with faculty, staff and students.
This is a full-time appointment reporting directly to the Smith Chair in International Sustainable Agriculture, located at UTIA's Knoxville campus. The responsibilities of this appointment include:
Guatemala engagement (25% time): This position will manage UTIA's Milam Family Endowment for engagement in Guatemala. Specifically, this will include increasing student engagement in Guatemala through the annual offering of a Guatemala focused study abroad course, oversight of the Milam Scholars Program, and other student projects. Activities will also include the creation and management of Guatemalan institutional partnerships.
Latin America and the Caribbean program coordination (25%): This position will work with UTIA faculty, staff and students to build programs across Latin America and the Caribbean. This will involve working with ongoing UTIA programs in Belize, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Honduras, and other countries in the region as programs develop.
In-state outreach (25%): This position will work with UTIA faculty and staff to develop outreach programming to serve Hispanic and other Latin American & Caribbean populations in Tennessee. This will include development of in-person global competency trainings for UTIA personnel to be effective in serving diverse communities in the state.
Communications and administration (25%): This position will be responsible for managing the UTIA International Programs website, social media accounts, and leading development of internal and external communication materials about ongoing UTIA international programming. This position will lead the coordination and administration of the annual UTIA international showcase event, and work with the Smith Center team to administer the Smith Center Faculty Catalyst Fund, and assist in student programming, including the International Agriculture Student Ambassadors, IAAS, study abroad fairs, etc.
