The University of Miami Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant or Associate Professor of 20th /21st -century Comparative Cultural Studies. Primary areas of research interest include Cultural Studies; Comparative Literature; Visual Cultures; Film and Media Studies. Secondary areas of research interest that are desirable include comparative avant-gardes; architecture studies; migration and diaspora studies; postcolonial studies; urbanization; museum studies; comparative aesthetics; cultural policy; gender and sexuality studies; or comparative decolonial studies.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a related field and demonstrate the ability to conduct research and teach across two linguistic/cultural traditions. They will be expected to contribute actively to our Spanish program and to another program in our Department, preferably French. The successful candidate will have an active research agenda, teach and advise students in our Ph.D. program in Literary, Cultural, and Linguistic Studies, contribute to curricular development and extracurricular activities, and have the ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in a vibrant, interdisciplinary, multi-lingual community of scholars.
