The Office of Global Opportunities invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, academic wage (salaried) position. This position is anticipated to last one and a half months in Summer 2019.
The Resident Director serves students in a support and leadership role supervising and monitoring daily activities on site in the Queretaro, Mexico five and six week Study Abroad program sessions.
The RD regularly meets with students on the host campus, accompanies them on program field trips, and organizes activities to enrich students’ cultural experiences.
The RD provides support for students to ensure their overall well being, academic progress and success.
Prior to leaving for Mexico the RD assists program staff in Oregon in an orientation process spring term.
The defined qualifications will need to be identified in the Minimum/Required Qualifications field.
Applicants must be currently employed by, or enrolled (in a doctoral level graduate program) one of Oregon's public universities.
Education: Master’s degree in a field related to Spanish, Romance Languages, Linguistics, Education, International Relations, Higher Education Administration, Latin American History, Comp. Literature or other related areas.
Educational background that includes study or work outside of the United States
Work Experience: Two years minimum undergraduate level teaching, advising, and/or counseling
Fluency in Spanish and English
Demonstrated cultural competency and success working in a multicultural environment
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the criminal history check requirement
Working on a public university campus daily M-F for between 3-6 hours depending on student class schedules and within the city/local community some late afternoons and/or evenings. Access to office space, computer, printer and Wi-fi on a university campus.
