International Programs of the Seaver College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences seeks applicants for Director of the Buenos Aires Program. This position provides overall administrative leadership and management of the program. The primary mission of the Buenos Aires Program is to provide students with a life-changing international experience designed for intellectual, social, personal, and spiritual transformation. Duties:
• Directs the academic and curricular programming including recruitment, hiring, orientation and support of the faculty. • Works closely with the IP Malibu office, divisional deans and the IP Associate Dean to plan course offerings, hire adjunct faculty, coordinate internships and assist with curricular assessment. • Works closely with the Seaver College Faculty-in-Residence in establishing their role as "house parents" and assist them in giving leadership to House Church and involving them in the life of the student community. • Manages the budget, hiring, supervision, and evaluation of the local staff and provides oversight and management of the physical facilities. • Plans and coordinates international travel and local field trips including leadership and annual participation in two, week-long Educational Field Trips. • Leads all student development activities including spiritual growth, community bonding, mentoring, mediating disputes, securing counseling resources, student accessibility services and parent inquiries. • Supports all Global Fellows and RAs through mentorship and leadership development. • Provides spiritual leadership by modeling a personal commitment to Christian values and by creating a program environment that encourages spiritual development and opportunities for spiritual growth. • Engages students with the local community by developing opportunities and programs that incentivize interaction with local citizens, especially through the planning and conducting of an annual Listening Summit. • Teaches one course per year with the option to teach a second course, if desirable. • Regularly corresponds with the IP Dean, IP Associate Director and IP Director in Malibu. The Buenos Aires Director reports directly to the IP Dean.
• Required to have a Master's degree; PhD preferred. • Required to have 3 years of experience working with college students; preference for 3 years experience working with study abroad college students. • Required to have at least 2 years of managerial experience; preference for at least 2 years experience managing a study abroad program. • Required to have spent at least 1 year living in a foreign country. • Required to have knowledge of Latin American culture and experience living in a large, metropolitan city; preference for extensive knowledge of Buenos Aires and having lived for at least 1 year in Buenos Aires. • Must have an engaging personality, work well with people and have a passion for working with college students, especially in helping them develop a global perspective. • Must be a committed Christian who cares about the spiritual growth of college students in the context of an international experience. • Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. • Must have experience with use of Google Apps; preference for experience with website design and social media.
• Must be fluent in Spanish.
