Department/College Description About RIT Dining Services Dining Services supports all meal plans both on campus and at select off campus locations. We are looking for a high energy team member that enjoys working in a busy environment serving customers. The successful candidate will need to be able to work with a diverse student work force which may include of deaf / hard of hearing, and internationals students. Hours would change for breaks, intersession and summer semester. This position may support serving from 1500 to over 3000 customers (faculty, staff and students) in any one location on a daily basis.
About the Commons and The College Grind: Located within the SDC building, The Commons and The College Grind are two premiere RIT Dining Services venues. These facilities are united by their passion to serve and deliver legendary customer service and experiences that will help support the RIT Community. Reporting to the Assistant Manager of The Commons, the Cashier- Line Server sets up the food stations and also run the cash register system during service hours. They may also work in a food station as needed. The Commons seats 250 + guests and The College Grind serves 400 +guests in a retail environment. Together the two operations serve over 2000 meals daily with service hours from 7:30 am until Midnight seven days a week. Patrons who frequent The Commons can choose from a variety of food platforms that are made in front of the patron.

Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Additionally, flexible scheduling/work hours may be required during break week, summer and intersession. In addition, large institute events may require additional hours (such as commencement (graduation) and Imagine RIT Festival). Duties Include:
Responsible to all customers and co-workers to provide excellent service in a friendly, sincere and courteous manner.
Set up and work in Cashier station.
Set up food platforms for service
Oversee, instruct student employees while working side by side with them.
Run register with attention to accuracy and high standard of professionalism
Help with training of student workers, mainly cashiering and front end service, but not exclusively
Help overall quality of service by problem solving and by communicating items such as variances from standards or customer concerns with appropriate team members and customers in a professional and courteous manner.
Responsible for cleanliness of work areas maintaining proper sanitation and safety procedures
Carry out additional duties and special assignments as requested by managers and supervisors.
Help with restocking of front end, ie cups,silverware, etc..
Adhere to all compliance, safety and health regulations
Report to work on time , wear proper uniform and adhere to dining services and RIT polices
Required Minimum Qualifications
1- 2 years Food Service retail and cashiering experience
