Reporting to the Associate Vice President of International Advancement, the Senior Development Associate plays an integral role in managing the needs of the International Advancement team including supporting the Executive Director and the Assistant Director of International Advancement. The International Advancement team is charged with developing programs to engage major gift ($100,000 or more) and principal gift ($1,000,000 or more) prospects and donors.
The Senior Development Associate is a critical member of university advancement and serves as the primary liaison between the Associate Vice President (AVP), the International Advancement team, and high profile international major gift and principal gift prospects. In addition, s/he serves as the primary contact between the International Advancement team, the Office of the President, the Office of the Senior Vice President for Advancement, the Office of the Vice President for Development, and the Office of Alumni Relations.
The Senior Development Associate supports the AVP and the International Advancement team in efforts to build a strong and supportive community of international parents and alumni. As the direct provider of support to the AVP, the Senior Development Associate executes a variety of responsibilities including the day-to-day scheduling and administrative needs of the AVP, producing written and oral communication with university leaders, alumni, parents, students, donors, prospects, and community members on behalf of the AVP, and organizing and planning meetings and small events on behalf of the AVP. S/he oversees and manages international travel for the AVP, the Executive Director, and the Assistant Director that may involve the President, Senior Vice President, and Vice President. This includes setting and confirming appointments, developing comprehensive briefings that include biographical information, meeting logistics, cultural protocols, and strategic objectives.
The Senior Development Associate will oversee the Salesforce database, conduct research, and independently prepare reports to be used by the AVP in decision-making and reporting to the Senior Vice President for University Advancement and VP of Development.
S/he will work with another Senior Development Associate, the AVP, and other members of the team to prioritize projects, tasks, and work load as necessary.
This position requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to listen, a service oriented attitude, a strong work ethic, knowledge of and interest in international fundraising, and an appreciation for and sensitivity to Asian, Middle Eastern, European, and Latin American cultures. The individual must be self-motivated and detail oriented, able to manage workload independently, and prioritize and manage ongoing projects at the same time. Challenges include juggling multiple responsibilities in a very busy environment.
Bachelor's Degree required; at least three to five years of professional experience preferably in higher education and/or development.
