The Department of Latin American and Iberian Cultures seeks an experienced Program Specialist to join its team.Â This administrator oversees the needs of faculty and assists with all aspects of departmental events and daily needs and requests, and ensures confidentiality and controls access to sensitive information.Â The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed in an oversight role and able to multi-task in a high-energy environment, producing results while maintaining a pleasant, professional demeanor.
Supervise staff and student workers.
Oversee, organize, monitor, and expedite the work flow within the department.
Enter class sections into the schedule of classes.
Schedule faculty loads and monitor course releases and sabbaticals.
Process all curriculum changes via the online system.
Assist with faculty affairs (recruitment, review, promotions, merit and student evaluations).
Oversee all budget and research accounts, expenditures for faculty, special programs in Latin American and Iberian countries.
Assist graduate students and undergraduate majors and minors.
Assist in faculty searches and appointment process.
Oversee new office assignments.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Written and oral skills; working knowledge of Spanish language strongly preferred.
Interpretation of policies/analyses/trends/etc. Knowledge of applicable policies/principles/etc.
Problem identification and resolution.

Preferred Field of Expertise: Directly related project or administrative experience; university budget experience and knowledge of university financial systems.
