The English Department at the University of Redlands seeks a tenure-track assistant professor of Chicanx/Latinx literary and cultural studies, with expertise in media and/or visual culture, to begin Fall 2020. The successful candidate will teach a range of undergraduate courses in literature, Chicanx/Latinx studies, and media and visual cultures, at lower and upper divisions, and in their specialized fields. In addition to courses in the English Department, the successful candidate will also provide core curriculum in the interdisciplinary Media and Visual Culture Studies Program and have opportunities to collaborate with other interdisciplinary programs such as Race and Ethnic Studies; Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; and Latin American Studies. The teaching load is six courses per year, divided among Fall and Spring semesters and May Term.
The University seeks candidates with experience working with students from diverse cultural and/or socio-economic backgrounds. Candidates must demonstrate willingness to help students of historically underrepresented groups achieve academic success and find pathways toward engaged humanities. Candidates who apply are asked to identify their strengths and experiences in assisting diverse student populations to accomplish curricular goals, including advancing diversity through instruction, mentoring, scholarship, and community engagement.
