Assistant professor, cultural anthropology, tenure track, start August 2020. The interdisciplinary Department for the Study of Culture and Society seeks a colleague committed to undergraduate teaching and active scholarship. Areas of Expertise: immigration, transnational identities, race. Additional areas: gender/sexuality, ethnographic methods, or indigenous studies. Preferred world region: Central America and/or South America. Teaching load is 3/3 in two semester schedule, with January term optional. Successful candidate will be able to teach introduction to cultural anthropology, immigration, race, ethnographic methods and other courses related to research areas. Preference for candidates who can mentor a diverse student population and contribute to community education regarding racial and cross-cultural understanding. Minimum requirements: PhD or advanced ABD in cultural anthropology; evidence of (1) effective teaching; (2) a commitment to creating an inclusive classroom supportive of underrepresented categories of students; (3) a research and writing agenda.
