The Office of Admission seeks to hire a new Admission Counselor/Assistant Director of Regional Recruitment to build a larger, more diverse and more engaged prospect pool in Drake University’s key markets by expanding outreach, recruitment, and presence in Houston and San Antonio, TX and designated markets in Latin America. Working remotely in the Houston area, this individual will be assigned a recruitment territory and lead a recruitment strategy in the region that will contribute to the overall enrollment objectives of the university. The Admission Counselor/Assistant Director of Regional Recruitment will represent Drake University to a variety of constituents including prospective students and parents, school counselors, other organizations, as well as actively participate in their respective regional admission organization(s). This individual will work with students through the entire recruitment process, from inquiry to matriculation. This position is one part of a comprehensive regional, national, and international recruitment team; the campus in Des Moines will provide logistical and administrative support. Fluency in Spanish is a preferred skill. Candidate must have valid drivers license, valid passport, and meet the insurability requirements to drive on behalf of the university.
Admission counselor/assistant director will be determined based on experience.
The regional representative will serve as an official representative of Drake University at college nights, high school visits, admitted student receptions, admission interviews and other events in the Houston, San Antonio, and Latin American regions. This individual is responsible for establishing strong relationships with students, counselors, community-based organizations and parents, in order to increase the quantity and quality of applications and deposits from students within the region. This professional will be responsible for maintaining personal contact with students via appointments, phone, email, social media, on and off campus events, presentations and other strategies.
This individual will develop a strategic recruitment and marketing plan for the region using geo-demographic data and regular reports to inform strategy, and drive applications and enrollment within the region in a cost-effective manner
The regional representative will review prospective student credentials and make recommendations for admission consistent with University policies and priorities
Actively participate in the activities of area high school guidance counselor organizations and in regional admissions organizations (ACACs). This individual will be strongly encouraged to take leadership roles or to present at meetings of these organizations. Regional recruitment team members are also expected to be active in Regional Admission Organizations (HARN).
The representative will be expected to attend trainings and events on the Drake University campus throughout the year and participate in regular meetings remotely.
This individual will assist with projects that can be completed off site. Projects assigned will depend on office need and interest and skill set of individual.
