Budget Title: Postdoctoral Associate (SL-1)
Salary: $48,000 (Full-time, Temporary)
The post-doctoral fellows will work as part of the I-GMAP team to promote and advance interdisciplinary and practitioner-relevant scholarship contributing to improved understanding of and capacities for the prevention of mass atrocities.
The Fellowship supports recent recipients of terminal degrees in any relevant academic discipline who show potential to contribute to the research and practice of atrocity prevention, broadly conceived. This broad conception includes "upstream" educational programs and diplomatic initiatives designed to assess and strengthen the resilience of at-risk societies and to build early-warning networks; "midstream" initiatives to assess and operationalize effective interventions in imminent or ongoing atrocities; and "downstream" efforts to reduce the risk of recurrence of atrocity crimes, such as transitional justice initiatives, museums, public art and other sites of memory and conscience.
Recent PhDs from any discipline (including but not limited to Africana studies, anthropology, Asian studies, business administration, computer science, engineering, environmental science, geography, gender studies, history, human rights, indigenous studies, international development, international finance, international relations, Latin American studies, political science, psychology, public administration, and sociology). Must have degree prior to August 2020. Must have conducted previous research related to mass atrocity prevention and have interest in making research accessible to academic and practitioner audiences.
Under appropriate circumstances applications by recent recipients of the J.D. will also be considered. Qualified applicants currently holding temporary or tenure-track positions are also welcome to apply. For the 2020-21 academic year, I-GMAP particularly welcomes applicants whose research programs advance interdisciplinary approaches to prevention.
