University of the Sciences (USciences) invites applications for a full-time 10-month tenure-track faculty position in Spanish beginning August 15, 2021. Appointment at the assistant or associate rank considered. The incumbent will reside in the Humanities Department and teach Spanish language, all levels, from beginning to advanced conversation and composition. Additional, strongly preferred teaching competence includes courses in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and related fields. Ability to teach or develop two courses—Spanish for Healthcare Professionals and Hispanics and Medicine—is required. Teaching load is 3-3, with expectation of service and active research agenda.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Spanish and have demonstrated teaching experience.
The candidate should have a passion for teaching, a commitment to innovative teaching methods, and demonstrated success in working with undergraduates.
The selected candidate will be responsible for recruiting students for the Spanish Minor and for the Spanish for Healthcare Professionals Certificate.
The selected candidate will be required to use the Desire to Learn learning management system to post course related materials, exam grades, and communicate with the students.
The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.
