Johnson's Ithaca Residential Student Services team serves as an essential nexus between Johnson's students and its faculty and staff. Together, the group is broadly responsible for creating the conditions to allow Johnson students to have a world-class academic, co-curricular, and community experience that meets their academic, professional, and personal goals. The department encompasses the Student Services, Registrar, and Student Activities & Special Events teams. This Position: The Student Services Coordinator will be a vital and fully-integrated member of the Johnson Residential Student Services team, and will share the team's commitment to student experience and student success. Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Services, the Coordinator's primary responsibilities will be to: - Directly support students enrolled in Johnson's growing Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Management Program by serving as the primary and first point of contact for student inquiries, advising, and other needs throughout the student lifecycle, from post-admission/pre-arrival onboarding through graduation. (Launched in 2017, the MPS in Management is a rigorous, STEM-designated residential program that offers students with non-business undergraduate degrees the opportunity to acquire the business acumen they need to launch their careers through an intensive one-year program.)
- Work closely with the MPS in Management faculty director, the Assistant Dean of Student Services for the College, the Executive Director of Student Services for Johnson, and colleagues on the College admissions and career services teams to shape and enhance the onboarding, academic, co-curricular, and overall student experience of the MPS in Management program.
- Coordinate--and actively contribute to--student services internal communication efforts for the entire Johnson residential Ithaca student community (MPS in Management and Ithaca full-time MBA programs). This includes coordinating all onboarding communication for admitted students, managing webpage and website content development, design, and updates, creating marketing materials for internal events and initiatives, developing slide decks, and coordinating email newsletters and announcements.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a positive and engaging team player who has the ability to build trust and rapport with students of all backgrounds, and who is comfortable working within a fast-paced professional environment with competing demands. The candidate should also have: - A Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years experience in higher education (e.g. student services, campus or residential life, registrar, advising, or related functions) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working directly with undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional students in a support capacity.
- Experience that demonstrates creativity, sound professional judgment, problem-solving, and project management skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team of diverse professionals.
- Superior writing and editing skills; an eye for design.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Outstanding command of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and GSuite.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of discretion in dealing with confidential data and information.
- Flexibility to support occasional early morning, evening, and weekend programs and events.
- Ability to attend meetings and support events held across campus and at Johnson's Collegetown location, often traveling on foot.
- Ability to work at (and facilitate) occasional outdoor events (such as orientation events, hikes, team-building exercises, and outdoor socials).
Preferred Qualifications: Any combination of the following skills or experiences would be a strong plus: - Experience with web content management and/or web design (knowledge of WordPress a bonus).
- Graphic design skills and an eye for what makes a compelling photo or visual (knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus).
- Experience working with people from different countries and cultures, and/or experience studying, working, or traveling abroad.
- Experience working with student leaders and/or serving in student organizations.
- Experience using Slack or similar internal communication platforms and/or using social media to promote programs, events, and engagement.
