Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full time, one-semester position of Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science to begin February 1, 2022.

The Department of Political Science helps students develop an understanding of political processes and institutions and to acquaint them with the issues and problems that politics tries to manage. The Department also teaches students skills of analysis, research, and evaluation so that they can become more informed citizens.
Major/Essential Functions: The teaching assignment will be 3 courses in the 2022 spring semester. Primary teaching responsibilities will include two sections of Introduction to International Relations (POL 130) and one 200-level elective (open to thematic and area studies courses such as Latin American politics, African Politics, Human Rights, Immigration, etc.).
PhD in Political Science (or a related field); we will consider candidates who have achieved ABD status
Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching
Evidence of a commitment to undergraduate teaching and student advising;
Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential
