The Institute for Social Research at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), invites the applications to fill two positions equivalent to full-time Associate Researcher level “C”, for a one-year tenure, thereafter renewable, contingent on satisfactory research performance.
The research theme for this job opening is “Governance and decision-making processes”, focusing on:
Scope and limitations of governance within environments distinguished for social inequality and political marginalization.
Governance and the formation of public policy networks.
From local to global governance to cope with social problems, and public policy making.
Demonstrated background in Social Science, in any of its disciplines.
Strong theoretical and methodological background in the field of knowledge pertaining to the proposed theme.
PhD degree by the date of application.
Women must be under the age of 39, and men under the age of 37, by the start of the job appointment, in accordance with the rules established in the UNAM Subprogram for Recruiting Young Scholars. (Affirmative action, established in the Program for Faculty Renewal of the National Autonomous University of Mexico).
Three years of research experience.
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the proposed theme, by presenting a paper authored by the candidate (not co-authored) and published in an indexed journal, or two published pieces of academic work on the proposed theme (co-authored works will not be accepted in either of the two options).
Demonstrate at least two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate levels.
Written commitment to undertake full-time research at the Institute.

Research project about one of the focus areas of the above-mentioned theme, referring either to the domestic or international sphere, and including a timetable of activities that is feasible to complete in one year. The project must explicitly indicate the selected focus area, including a one-page brief explanation on its relation to the research proposal.
