About UofO
The Anthropology Department at the University of Oregon is a diverse and growing department with strengths in Biological Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology and Archaeology. Interdisciplinary ties are one of our strengths, and thus many faculty members are closely aligned with other programs and units such as the Native American and Indigenous Studies program; the Museum of Natural and Cultural History; the Center for the Study of Women in Society; the Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies; the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies; the Institute of Ecology and Evolution; Ethnic Studies; and Women’s and Gender Studies. The Anthropology Department at the University of Oregon offers a major, minor and PhD degree; teaching load is five courses per year within a quarter system. The University of Oregon is one of only two Pacific Northwest members of the Association of American Universities and holds the distinction of a “very high research activity” ranking in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Located in Eugene, the UO enrolls more than 19,000 undergraduates and 3,700 graduate students representing all 50 states and nearly 100 countries.
