POSITION:

Lecturer in Geography. The Geography Program invites applications for a pool of part-time lecturer applicants from candidates qualified to teach undergraduate geography courses. Because program needs vary from semester to semester, applicants are encouraged to identify any of the following areas of coursework they would be qualified to teach in: introductory and upper-division undergraduate courses in cultural/human geography, physical geography (including a lab course), environmental studies, soil science, sustainable agriculture, and GIS/geospatial technology. Candidates interested in teaching more advanced courses should indicate the range and depth of their relevant professional training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Ph.D. in Geography is preferred. An M.A. or M.S. in Geography or related disciplines will be considered with evidence of strong teaching or fieldwork experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Evidence of impressive undergraduate teaching and a strong record of fieldwork.

We are a small department of collegial faculty members engaged in international and community-based research and teaching. The department has regional expertise in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and North America and retains a strong commitment to human-environmental sustainability. The Center for Applied Spatial Analysis, Environmental Soil Lab, Sustainable Garden and the Keck GIS Lab support our teaching and research. The department is located within the College of the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE



The university requires a criminal and/or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees, current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities, and current employees assigned new duties.
