Augsburg University invites applications for a one-year instructor position in Latine/x Studies, in the Critical Race and Ethnicity Studies (CRES) department. The appointment begins August 23, 2023. We welcome applicants with teaching expertise in Latine/x Studies, broadly defined.
The person filling this position will be expected to teach courses at the undergraduate level, including core foundational courses (e.g., Introduction to Critical Race and Ethnicity Studies) and courses within their area of specialization. The teaching load is six courses per year.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, we expect to conduct a national search for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Latine/x Studies, looking for a person with teaching and research expertise in Latine/x Studies. The person who fills our one-year instructor position would be welcome to apply for this tenure-track position, which would begin in August 2024.
ABD in Latine/x Studies, Ethnic Studies, American Studies, History, Cultural Studies, social science, or related fields.
A Ph.D. or international equivalent in Latine/x Studies, Ethnic Studies, American Studies, History, Cultural Studies, social sciences or related fields is required for this position. Teaching experience; interdisciplinary expertise, especially in intersectional social theory; expertise in critical race theory.
The successful candidate will also have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students.
