Director for International Alumni Relations

The Director for International Alumni Relations leads alumni engagement and outreach to the over 23,000 Cornell alumni who live and work outside of the United States and Canada. This critical position cultivates and nurtures nearly 40 international Cornell alumni clubs and communities across Asia, Europe, Middle East, Latin America, and Africa.
Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Alumni Affairs, and serving on the Alumni Affairs Leadership Team, the Director plays an instrumental role in the University's international advancement and campaign engagement goals. The Director works collaboratively with a broad range of Alumni Affairs & Development colleagues and University academic partners, including the Office of the Vice Provost of International Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Ownership and leadership for international alumni engagement programming, including the annual Cornell Asia-Pacific Alumni Leadership Conference.
- Identifying, recruiting, and managing a robust pipeline of international alumni volunteers.
- Leading the International Alumni Relations Team
- Serving on the Cornell Alumni Affairs Leadership Team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 5 - 7+ year's work experience or equivalent combination of education and significant relevant experience.
- Willingness to travel internationally 3+ times per year.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Event planning experience.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Global mindset, experience in operating with cultural sensitivity.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to initiate, implement, evaluate, and advance strategic plans, impactful events, and initiatives.
- Strong listening and relationship building skills.
- Results-oriented, proactive.
- Comfort and facility with building remote relationships using virtual platforms.
- Access to internet service and ability to work remotely as needed.
- Basic computer and software competency

This position is based in Ithaca, NY with a hybrid work schedule (2 or 3 days in the office and the remainder remote).
