Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a full time Upper School Spanish Teacher (grades 9 - 12) to start immediately and continue full time for the 2023-24 school year. The ideal candidate is patient, flexible, enjoys working in a team-teaching environment, has the ability to lesson plan and assess student learning in multiple ways, and has experience building professional relationships with students and colleagues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Prepare daily lessons for three separate Spanish classes (Exploring Spanish, Spanish I, Spanish II, and other levels)
Collaborate with an assistant or head teacher to meet the needs of all students in each class
Participate in weekly team meetings with other teachers
Maintain records and a gradebook that captures student learning in a variety of ways
Communicate with parents and teachers regarding student progress across subject areas
Serve as an advisor to a small group of students
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
BA, BS, MA, or MS Degree or Minor in Spanish, Spanish Language and Literature, Teaching, Education, Special Education, Hispanic Language and Culture, Latin American Studies, Second Language Acquisition, or related field(s)
NYS Teacher Certification (preferred)
2+ full years of teaching/in-school experience
Experience in and willingness to continue higher levels of education for effective service strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities
Technology experience and skills
Interest in professional career development in the field of special education
Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
Compensation
$56K - $75K Commensurate with Experience
