New York University's Department of History seeks to hire a scholar in the field of modern Latin American and Caribbean History at the assistant professor level for a full-time, tenure-track position. The department is particularly interested in scholars focused on subjects including, but not limited to, U.S.- Latin American relations, political economy and development, environment, Indigenous peoples, and the roles of race, class, gender, and/or sexuality. The successful candidate will be expected to teachundergraduate and graduate courses in Latin American and Caribbean history.
Appointment will begin September 1, 2024, pending budgetary and administrative approval. The deadline for applications is December 5, 2023. In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $135,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
