The Department of History at Michigan State University invites applications for a pool of qualified fixed-term Assistant Professors to teach one or more undergraduate or graduate-level courses per semester. These positions could be part-time or full time, and vary by semester, depending on the needs of the Department. It is possible that no positions are needed in some semesters. Applicants in this pool are reviewed when the Department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy as needed within two years and positions would begin as early as August 16, 2024. This is an academic year (AY) appointment for fall and spring semester teaching when courses become available. Candidates must be qualified to teach in at least ONE of the following fields:
United States History
Latin American History
Asian History
European History
African History

A Ph.D. or equivalent degree required by date of hire. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and/or significant work experience in one of the following fields: US History, Latin American History, African History, Asian History and European History.
