The History Department at Manhattan College invites applications for a full-time, visiting assistant professor position in US history for the Spring 2025 semester, with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester, including options from: both halves of the US history survey, an upper-division course in their area of specialization, and lower-division courses in the History program or the Kakos School of Liberal Arts and Sciences Core Curriculum. Key responsibilities:
Teach 12 credits (4 classes a semester) of History during the Spring 2025 semester, which begins on January 14.
Reports to:
Margaret Groarke, Chair of History, Political Science and International Studies
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in history. A candidate holding a Master?s Degree and having significant teaching experience will also be considered but would be appointed at the rank of Visiting Instructor.
Experience as the instructor of record for a college-level history course.
Skills and Competencies:
? Strong knowledge of U.S. History.
? Ability to plan and teach college courses in History.
? Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
? Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Salary for a contract running from January 14 to June 15, 2025, will be between $34.5K and $36.5K
