Description: The Program in Latin American Studies (PLAS) is seeking candidates from any discipline who are engaged in scholarly research on topics related to Latin American Studies, including the Caribbean and Brazil, to fill Postdoctoral Research Associate or more senior research positions. Although the call is open, scholars working on policy and public health, or on economic development in the region are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates will be expected to devote themselves to research and writing and may teach not more than one course per semester. When teaching, successful candidates will hold the secondary rank of Lecturer, and any teaching opportunities are subject to sufficient enrollments and the approval of the Dean of the Faculty. Postdoctoral associates are expected to participate regularly in the scholarly and academic activities of the program. The term of appointment is based on rank. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for a 12-month term during the 2026-2027 academic year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding; those hired at more senior ranks may have multi-year appointments. Start date is around September 1, 2026. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University. The 12-month, 100% duty time salary for this position will be $65,000 paid monthly. The program will provide a $2,000 moving allowance that will reimburse allowable out-of-pocket relocation expenses, some of which may be taxable. In addition, the program will provide a $6,500 research account. For the teaching component of this appointment the lecturer salary during a teaching semester will be calculated based on a nominally higher rate of pay.
