Description
The Department of the History of Art and Design at Pratt Institute (both Brooklyn and Manhattan Campuses), is creating a pool of part-time faculty applicants for the Fall 2024 semester to teach in the following areas:
Art History Survey Courses (Ancient to Medieval; Renaissance to Modern/Contemporary)
History of Design Survey Courses (History of Interior Design, History of Industrial Design, History of Communications Design)
Asian Art
African Art
Latin American/Pre-Columbian Art
New Media

Examples of Duties
Teach part-time courses in Art History or Design History, covering areas such as Ancient to Medieval, Renaissance to Modern/Contemporary Art, or the History of Interior, Industrial, and Communications Design at both the Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses.
Engage with a diverse student body by fostering an inclusive learning environment, leveraging expertise in specialized areas such as Asian Art, African Art, Latin American/Pre-Columbian Art, or New Media, while promoting the values of Pratt's creative learning community.
Qualifications
Art History Survey Courses: we require that candidates have an MA in the History of Art or the History of Design; ABD or PhD, and teaching experience beyond the TA level is preferred.
History of Design Survey Courses: we require that candidates have an MA in the History of Design or the History of Art; ABD or PhD, and teaching experience beyond the TA level is preferred.
Asian Art, African Art, Latin American/Pre-Columbian Art, New Media: we require that candidates be at least ABD, PhD and teaching experience are preferred.
Pay Rate: $1,500 - $1,950 per contact hour
