The Department of Spanish & Portuguese is composed of a diverse group of scholars who have worked together to create a rigorous and inclusive environment for research and teaching. Faculty work in literature, history, philosophy, law, art history, and a range of interrelated areas including archival studies, animal studies, sexuality studies, performance studies, memory studies, and environmental aesthetics, while also encouraging new approaches to questions of visual media, print culture, and sound. We encourage applicants to look at the faculty bios on our website to see the breadth of our interests and to imagine how they might fit into —and expand— the intellectual profile of our community.
