The Department of Spanish and Portuguese invites applications for the position of Faculty Fellow in Latin American Studies, starting on 9/1/2026. The position will initially be offered for a period of one year, renewable for up to three years pending budgetary and administrative approval. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in Brazilian Studies, with the fields of performance studies, visual, literary and cultural studies, and comparative racial formations in the Americas as additional areas of interest.
Individuals who are in the process of completing their PhDs must graduate by the start date of the position. For full consideration, candidates should submit their application materials before October 31, 2025. The search will remain open until the position is filled.
The successful candidate will teach in our undergraduate and graduate curriculum, and also have the opportunity to collaborate with many units and projects adjacent to the department, including NYU’s Study-Abroad program at Recife, Brazil, as well as the Center of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, the Center for the Study of Africa and the African Diaspora, the Hemispheric Institute, the Espacio de Culturas, and the Center for the Humanities.
