Bucknell University invites applications for a non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Latin American Studies Program (LAMS). The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory courses on Latin American and Latinx Studies with a desired focus on gender, ethnicity, environmental issues or social movements. Additionally, they are expected to teach interdisciplinary undergraduate courses on their area and subject of expertise including, but to limited, to Latin American, Caribbean, and/or Latinx history, culture, politics, and society. The successful candidate will also contribute to the academic growth of the LAMS Program, conduct original research, and engage in service activities within the department and university community. The teaching load is 3/3. Candidates are expected to contribute to the University's efforts to foster an inclusive and globally-minded academic community.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. preferred (by August 2025 ) in Latin American Studies, History, Political Science, Anthropology, or a related field. Candidates with ABD may also be considered.
Commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student body.
Strong teaching portfolio preferred.
Strong record or potential for research focused on Latin America, Caribbean, Latinx and Latinx Diasporas, with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary or global perspectives.
Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
Previous teaching experience is desirable but not required.
